Does reality change, or does our perception of reality change?

I was recently discussing this with a dear friend of mine the other day.  I told her that I believe that our reality changes as quickly as I stroke these keys.  From one moment to the next our reality is constantly changing. 

My girlfriend (lets call her Jasmine) stated that reality doesn't change....our perceptions do. 

HUH??  At first I thought...'Ok, you just signed up for a debate, honey. This is gonna be easy.'
That was my ego talking, but then my spiritual self said something to the effect of: 

"Just sit back and listen, Einstein. You may just learn something."  
(Yes, I'm a smart ass on all levels.) 
"Whatever" 
(Again, my friggin ego... do you see how we act when we think we know a lil something?).

So I listened. 
Jasmine explained to me her version of reality.  She said "A chair is a chair and a table is a table...one real thing is just as real as the other.  Our thoughts about that chair or table may change, but in the end, a chair is still a chair and a table is still..."  well you get the drift. 

So I thought (cause I was still confused).
But a chair could have been a piece of wood an hour ago, but now its a chair. 

And I thought again.
Are we talking about our reality an hour ago? Or are we talking about our reality right now?
At this very moment?

So I answered.
Ahhh...I see.

My conclusion:
Two things...

First~
I learned that one doesn't have to be on a spiritual quest for truth (like I am) to be able to
drop some serious knowledge on you.  Lets be real...a 5yr old can say some insightful sh*t. lol...
However, sometimes we get too big for our britches once we think we've learned a little somethin, somethin.
Guilty as charged...But that's ok, I'm learning, we're all learning. 
Personally, I think a little humble pie tastes good every once in a while, don't you?
(followed by a little vodka and some herbal stimulation of course, i.e. prayer and meditation). lol

Ah ha!
If your talking about past and future realities like I was, then reality changes from moment to moment with every breath you take.
However...if your talking about the here and now (which essentially is the only reality we have if you think about it)...then right now, at this very moment, a chair is simply a chair... or not simply a chair, however you choose to look at it.  ;-)

Reality, at this very moment, just is... 

Ultimately, you are in charge of what your doing right here right now.  Circumstances of your here and now choices create your past and future realities.  So choose your Right Now wisely! 
Your future depends on it!

Marinate on that!
